October 13, 2006 | Matana interviewed on Veganica
Matana practices a vegetarian lifestyle. Growing up on Chicago's south side she got to see first hand what restricted access to alternative health resources was doing to her African American community at large, in the form of modern illness and social violence. This is one of the many reasons why she chose to become a vegetarian. Because of this she has developed a keen interest in exploring and deconstructing issues that connect access of health resources to ideas of privilege and social class issues on a national and global level.

hear her speak on this as well as developmental issues surrounding her musical path.

the show also features an interview with writer and scholar Amie Breeze Harper about her Sistah Vegan Anthology project which Matana is also a part of.
